The first away game of SG Barockstadt in the Regionalliga Südwest ends in defeat.

Against VfR Aalen, the SGB struggled with a strong VfR defense and lost 0:3 (0:1).

Coach Sedat Gören had little reason to change the starting line-up after the 1-0 win against TSV Steinbach Haiger.

However, he had to do it once: Moritz Reinhard was not ready to play after being hit on the shin against Steinbach Haiger, Tolga Duran started for him.

Tobias Göbel, who was one of the toughest cases along with Dennis Müller last week and was not in the squad, was there this time and came on for Marius Löbig in the second half.

Like SG Barockstadt, VfR Aalen started the season with a win.

VfR won 2-1 against newly promoted SGV Freiberg and scored the winning goal in the 92nd minute.

Aalen was only playing in the 2nd Bundesliga seven years ago, but was relegated to bottom of the table in the 2014/2015 season.

After four years in the 3rd division, the Regionalliga Südwest has been the home of the Baden-Württembergers for four seasons now.

The fact that the Ostalb has seen better days can still be seen in the club.

Not only the stadium makes that clear, but also the fans, who made for a good home game atmosphere among 1180 spectators.

VfR defense cools SGB offensive

Carried by this, the VfR pushed the tempo right at the beginning of the game and thus presented the baroque city with some problems.

Again and again stick errors, bad passes or inaccuracies spread into the game of the guests, which should punish Aalen immediately.

Kristjan Arh Cesen escaped Löbig, whose low cross found the far post Paolo Maiella, who had rushed Jonas Pfalz on the opposite side and was able to score from close range to give VfR the lead (17th).

The guests from Fulda then tried to find an answer quickly and were initially unimpressed by the goal they conceded, but it was to be an unpleasant afternoon for the offensive players led by Dominik Rummel, Duran and Pfalz.

The hosts' defense was solid and only allowed two shots from distance by Pfalz, which went over the goal or were too harmless for the largely unemployed VfR keeper Michel Witte.

SG Barockstadt: Jan Lüdke has the best chance of equalizing

The game of the SG Barockstadt should only change with the substitution of Dominik Wüst, who came on for the pale Duran after an hour and caused danger with his speed and crosses.

However, it was not Wüst who had the greatest chance of equalizing, but Jan Lüdke, who came on at the break and was served a too-short clearance action at the penalty spot, but his volley failed at the brilliantly reacting Witte (74th).

In the middle of the phase in which SG Barockstadt seemed a little closer to equalizing and kept Aalen busy in their own penalty area for several minutes, the decision was made in favor of the home side.

A deflected ball landed at the feet of captain Alessandro Abruscia, who shot low from 18 meters and didn't give Tobias Wolf a chance to defend himself (80').

The decision went in favor of the Aalen team, who after a mistake by Kevin Hillmann went on to make it 3-0 (85') through Sascha Korb.
