FC St. Pauli keeps in touch with the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The team coached by Timo Schultz defeated newly promoted 1. FC Magdeburg 3-0 (2-0) and is only two points behind a promotion place.

Match winner was Johannes Eggestein with two quick hits (3rd/14th).

Marcel Hartel (77th) scored the final score.

The hosts started furiously.

Eggestein scored early to take the lead.

As a result, the Hamburgers stayed on the trigger and rewarded themselves again.

Eggestein headed in a cross from Manolis Saliakas.

The former Bremen native almost scored a hat-trick, but his header hit the crossbar after half an hour.

Magdeburg had a lot of possession in the first half, but the guests rarely became dangerous.

Jackson Irvine also made a strong save from Connor Krempicki (17') just before the goal line.

After the change, Magdeburg pushed for the connection.

Amara Conde (46th) and substitute Moritz Kwarteng (49th) only hit the crossbar and post.

On the other hand, David Otto, who had just come into play, missed the decision (56th), which Hartel then succeeded in doing.

Meanwhile, Hannover 96 celebrated their first win of the season.

Coach Stefan Leitl's team won 1-0 (0-0) against Jahn Regensburg late on Sunday.

An own goal by Steve Breitkreuz (83rd) ensured the success of the Hanoverians, who had previously lost twice and drawn once.

For Jahn it is the first defeat of the season.

Bundesliga relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth is still without a win after the fourth second division matchday.

The team coached by Marc Schneider managed to score 2-2 (1-0) at Fortuna Düsseldorf with an average performance on Sunday because Branimir Hrgota (42nd/78th, penalty kick) used two of the few chances to score.

Andre Hoffmann (62nd) and Dawid Kownacki (72nd) scored for Fortuna.
