Is Konrad Laimer still moving to Bayern?

RB managing director Mintzlaff recently indicated the tendency for the Austrian to stay.

Leipzig – FC Bayern started the new season with a victory in the Supercup against RB Leipzig and a furious 6-1 demonstration at Eintracht Frankfurt.

While top transfer Sadio Mané got off to a good start with two goals, newcomers like Matthijs de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch only came on as substitutes.

Nevertheless, the record champions may want to strengthen themselves, Leipzig's Konrad Laimer continues to arouse the interest of Munich.

RB managing director Oliver Mintzlaff commented on the personnel again on Saturday.

Mintzlaff on Laimer's whereabouts: "I think he was looking forward to Timo Werner"

Before Leipzig's 2-2 draw against 1. FC Köln on Saturday, Mintzlaff gave an update on the courted midfielder, who, like on the first matchday, was not in the squad due to an ankle problem.

“There is no Basta from me.

That only happens when everything has been decided.

But the trend is that he stays," said the 46-year-old about the future of the 25-year-old.

"It's not like it's an unbearable situation for Konnie," Mintzlaff said.

"I think that he was also very happy about Timo Werner because the two get along well with each other.

But you can't rule out anything in football.” Werner just switched from Chelsea back to his former club this week.

Timo Werner jokes about courted Laimer: "As of yesterday I saw him"

In fact, Laimer and Werner are close friends, in June both were on vacation together in the USA.

When asked about his buddy, Werner couldn't help but laugh at his introduction press conference.

"As of yesterday I saw him, today I saw him too," joked the 26-year-old on Wednesday.

"Well, he's still there."

If Mintzlaff is right in his assessment, Laimer would be available on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer.

Then Bayern could strike without raising the currently required sum of 30 million euros.

The transfer window is still open, however, and the DFB Cup winner will not be certain about the whereabouts of the midfielder until 6 p.m. on September 1st.
