Swimming: the French Pigrée European champion in the 50m backstroke

Queen of Europe, the Frenchwoman beat the Italian Silvia Scalia and the Dutch Maaike de Waard this Sunday, in the final of the 50m backstroke, in Rome.

French swimmer Analia Pigrée became European champion in the 50m backstroke on Sunday at the European Championships in Rome, with a time of 27.27.

Best time in her semi-final on Saturday, Pigrée won ahead of the Italian Silvia Scalia (27.53) and the Dutch Maaike de Waard (27.54), the two other favorites, separated by only one hundredth at the finish.
