After the publication that the Iranian judaist Alireza Beharnifard, decided to gather courage and flee to Germany, after he did not get along with his union and wanted to continue competing, it seems that the young athlete's problems have only just begun.
In a special conversation with "Israel Today", Beharnifard is not afraid to talk to an Israeli journalist when he is aware of it and tells what has happened to him in the last few days, what his family is going through at home in Iran and thoughts about the future.
"I've been in Germany for a week now and I'm fine," says the young Jew.
"I want to join the refugee team, but I haven't done anything yet. The Iranian Judo Association kicked me out of the national team recently and I didn't really have a choice. They also kicked me out of the world association and my card was deleted, you can't see what I've done until today. I I'm also trying to erase my past and burned my Iranian passport."
Do you know that you may not be able to return to Iran now?
"I know very well what I did, now the Iranian government has also arrested my father and he is in prison. The Iranian government said that the condition for my father's release is that I return to Iran."
So you're not afraid?
"I'm not afraid for myself, I'm just worried for my family, but if someone doesn't understand my story, and the Iranian government continues to do what it wants, then maybe the international community will help, but I have reservations about that."
