This Monday, Melvin Landerneau was crowned European champion in the kilometer at the European Championships in Munich.

He clinched his first European title aged 24, and his second medal in Germany after winning silver in the team sprint event last Friday.

This is the 26th French medal at these European Championships, the nation with the largest collection.

Melvin Landerneau started last, and he arrived alone under the minute (59′'975), ahead of the Italian Matteo Bianchi (+ 0′'114) and the German Maximilian Dörnbach (+ 0′'250 ).

The Martiniquais won the first major title of his career, after promising performances, second then third at the Nations Cup in Glasgow and Cali.

This Sunday, it was SĂ©bastien Vigier who won in speed on the track.

The two men will participate in the Keirin on Tuesday in an attempt to once again fill the medal cabinet of the Blues.
