Akanji could extend contract to join Inter
According to a media report, Manuel Akanji from the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund can smooth out his move to the Italian Serie A to Inter Milan himself.
The 27-year-old Swiss could extend his contract with the black and yellow team, which expires in 2023, by a year and move to the northern Italian metropolis on loan with an option to buy, as the "Gazzetta dello Sport" reported on Monday.
According to the newspaper, this solution would be very convenient for Inter Milan and the defender.
According to "Gazzetta", Inter was unable to raise the around 20 million euros previously demanded by Dortmund for the player.
Dortmund could possibly ask for even more for Akanji later.
The player himself, who came under strong competitive pressure with the new signings Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck in the Dortmund defense, could make the change he wanted.
The report pointed out that this idea was still circulating informally between the parties involved.
Further meetings of the negotiating parties are necessary.
However, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is still looking for a defender.
Akanji is said to be at the top of club management's wish list.
Ex-Bayern destination Dest to Dortmund?
Two years ago, Sergiño Dest was the absolute dream player of the then Bayern coach Hansi Flick.
