A financial arrangement has been found between Brazilians and Argentines on the one hand and Fifa on the other so that the match stopped a year ago.

The epilogue of a year-old soap opera.

On September 5, the shock of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers between Brazilians and Argentinians had made pschitt.

Arrested after five minutes of play, following the intervention of the health authorities, who had accused four Albiceleste players then playing in England of not having respected the anti-Covid protocol.

Since this improbable stop, Fifa had ordered last April that the meeting take place on September 21, even if a year later, there was no longer any sporting issue, the two teams being qualified for the final phase in Qatar. at the end of the year with a guaranteed first place for the Brazilians, who finished ahead of the Argentinians, condemned to second place.

The Argentine federation (AFA) had clearly announced that it would refuse to play from July.

A choice that was also made on the Brazilian side five days ago.

By mutual agreement between Fifa and the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the match was definitively canceled after an agreement between the various parties was reached.

To find such an outcome, the Argentine federation and the Brazilian confederation, designated as responsible for stopping the meeting, will have to allocate heavy fines: 155,000 euros for the Argentines and 310,000 euros for the Brazilians.

Half of these amounts are suspended.

Finally, 25% of the sum will be paid to the World Health Organization (WHO) as part of the fight against the coronavirus.
