The sixth day of the European Swimming Championships, held in Rome, Italy, started this morning (Tuesday), with the participation of 12 Israeli athletes.
The mixed 4x200 meter freestyle relay team (men's and women's) that includes Denis Loktev, Bar Soloveitchik, Daria Golovati and Leah Polonsky advanced to the finals from seventh place overall after setting a time of 7:44.06 minutes.
Two Israeli swimmers managed to advance to the semi-finals in the 200 meter individual medley.
Ron Polonsky did it from sixth place with 2:01.28 minutes and Eitan Ben Shitrit ranked ninth overall and is even in the next stage after touching the wall with 2:01.55 minutes.
The first to jump into the water in the hot sun were Miron Haruti and Martin Kartabi in the 50 meter freestyle, where the highest ranked Israeli was Haruti, who finished in 12th place and advanced to the semi-finals, with a time of 22.21 seconds.
His teammate, the young Kartabi, finished with 22.87 seconds and did not advance to the next stage.
In the 100 meter backstroke we saw four more Israelis.
David Gerchik finished in 27th place with 55.87 seconds, Inbar Danziger finished after 56.40 seconds (34th place), Michael Leitrovski, who celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday, was ranked 35th with 56.70 seconds and Adam Marana finished with 56.95 seconds (36th place out of 43 participants).
