Reigning European champion Arthur Abele was disqualified after a false start in the 110m hurdles event.
In slow motion, the German does not seem to be ahead at the time of the starting signal, but a simple pressure in the starts will have been enough to create a false start... Arthur Abele should therefore not have scored any points in this event and could say farewell to the medal, he who was still in the race for the podium before this terrible event.
But faced with the outcry caused by this disqualification, the judges finally fished him out and Abele was able to run, alone, a 110m hurdles, despite the new rules.
According to the latter, decathletes are only allowed one false start over the two days of competition.
The German had been warned on the 100 meters on Monday, and therefore received a second yellow card on the 110 meters hurdles on Tuesday, resulting in a red card synonymous with disqualification.
