The University of Hama won the title of the Central University Handball Championship for both males and females, which was established by the National Union of Syrian Students in cooperation with the University of Hama and the Executive Committee of the Sports Union branch in the governorate.

In the male category, in which ten teams from various public and private universities participated, the Hama University team won the first place after winning the final match over the Al-Baath University team with a score of 25-21 goals.

In the female category, which witnessed the participation of five teams, the Hama University team managed to win the title after defeating Aleppo University in the championship final 28-22 goals.

The head of the National Union of Syrian Students branch in Hama, Farid Magmouma, explained to SANA reporter that the tournament was successful by various measures, whether in the number of teams participating in the two categories or through the good level presented by the players, indicating that Hama University’s achievement of the title in both categories was natural because it is considered a stronghold of handball in Syria and has a history. It is full of titles and championships and has highly skilled and experienced players, coaches and referees.

In turn, the head of the Executive Committee of the Hama Sports Federation branch, Abdul Razzaq Zaitoun, indicated that this is the first time that the University of Hama hosts the central handball tournament, so we worked hard to make it a success by securing all the tournament requirements, especially the two gyms, referees, and administrative and technical expertise in the game, noting the good performance of the teams. Participation and discipline of its cadres inside and outside the stadium, which confirms the important role of universities in the development of Syrian sports in general.

At the end of the tournament, the winning teams ranked first and second in each category were honored. Hama University player Baraa Al-Baz was chosen as the best male player in the male championship, and Daraa University player Ahmed Masalmeh was the best goalkeeper, while his colleague Lynn Al-Satouf was chosen as the best player in the female category, and Diana Suleiman was the best goalkeeper in Al-Baath University. goal.
