Summary: Aris Thessaloniki - Maccabi Tel Aviv 1:2 (Sport1)
Maccabi Tel Aviv probably received the most difficult draw in the Conference League playoffs and will compete for promotion to the group stage against Nice, and if in Kiryat Shalom there were those who hoped that the French would come to the first meeting in Israel without a number of stars, now Lucien Fabre's squad has been announced and it turned out that the Algerian stars too will arrive in Israel.
Immediately after Maccabi Tel Aviv passed Greece's Aris Thessaloniki in the third qualifying round, many questions arose regarding no less than seven Nice players, all of them Algerians, and past cases show that most of them refuse to come to Israel.
Among the seven are also two of Nice's stars, Andy Delor (who also plays for the Algerian team regularly) who scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, and Amin Guairi who scored 12, the team's top two scorers last season - but they will arrive in Israel as usual, as well Bilal Brahimi, Yosef Atal and Derderin Bouanani.
Of all the seven Algerians, only midfielder Hisham Boudawi, who was absent following an injury on Sunday in the league against Strasbourg, will not come to Israel and is therefore not included in the list of 23 players of the squad for the first meeting.
Among the 23 squad players on Lucian Fabre's list who will arrive for Thursday's meeting against Maccabi Tel Aviv (8:00 p.m., Sport2), goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Ramsey, the two new arrivals from Leicester and Juventus respectively, are also included.
