Munich - The fascinating thing about track cycling is that a small town is being built inside the oval.
Each participating nation gets a box - and in Munich the area with the local press center is right next to it.
This results in the shortest possible routes – and truly exclusive insights.
So our eagle eyes didn't escape the notice (and we took a photo of it to preserve evidence) that there was a pack of Haribo Goldbären on the Swedes' table.
At the same time, the melody “Haribo makes Sweden happy” ran through our heads.
But is that so?
A look at the result lists: Sweden without a medal, the Swedish way with sweets is probably not the right one.
Although we don't know whether the athletes nibbled - or the trainers.
Performance-enhancing seems to be what was in the box in Norway: Corny-Riegel, "Muesli at its best", sings the inner voice.
Norway won a gold medal.
Top athletes and nutrition - one is always amazed at what is possible in terms of sins despite the regiment of qualified ecotrophologists.
A few days ago: we saw the gymnastics team from Malta sitting on a beer bench at the Burgerbude in the Olympic Park – with a trainer.
They celebrated the individual places 62 and 76 in the all-around and that the team didn't qualify for the final and didn't have to starve for two more days.
