An employee of a security company gave the Hitler salute to Israeli participants at the European Championships in Munich.

The incident happened at 7:20 p.m. on the Hanns-Braun-Bridge between the Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Village, near the "Wailing Beam" - a memorial commemorating the Israeli athletes murdered at the 1972 Olympic Games.

A group of 16 Israeli officials and athletes had been touring the Olympic grounds to visit memorials.

The "Süddeutsche Zeitung" first reported on it, and the Munich police confirmed the report to SPIEGEL.

Accordingly, the Israeli guests were accompanied by police officers on their tour.

Accordingly, they noticed the Hitler salute of a security employee who was in a group with three other colleagues.

According to the police, all accreditations for the event were revoked.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and, according to the police statement, "reported for using unconstitutional license plates."

Accordingly, he is 19 years old and comes from Berlin.

He shouldn't have a criminal record.

The case is currently still with the Munich I public prosecutor's office, senior public prosecutor Andreas Franck, anti-Semitism commissioner of the Bavarian judiciary, but should take over the investigation as soon as he returns from vacation.

50 years after the terrorist attack at Olympia

On September 5, 1972, at the Summer Olympics in Munich, there was an attack by the Palestinian terrorist organization »Black September«.

Eleven members of the Israeli team were killed, as well as a police officer.

Several memorials were erected in Munich's Olympic Park to commemorate the victims.
