An 11th medal for French swimming.

Yohann Ndoye Brouard won bronze in the 100m backstroke at the European Championships in Rome on Wednesday.

A little earlier in the big pool, Maxime Grousset was competing in the 50m freestyle final.

After being part of the gold team in the 4 x 100 m mixed relay, the Habs could not break away and finished 5th behind the medalists: the Briton Proud in gold, the Italian Deplano in silver and the Greek Gkolomeev in bronze.

The swimmer was disappointed with his race: "A little tension in the 50m, that does not forgive..."

The French have three more medal chances on this last evening of swimming in Rome.

Joris Bouchaut will swim in the 400m freestyle final (6:53 p.m.), and the French men's and women's teams are in the running for the 4 x 100m medley finals (7:16 p.m. women, 7:25 p.m. men).
