At the press conference ahead of this evening's match against Nice in the Conference League playoffs (Thursday, 20:00, Sport2), Vladan Ivić said yesterday that he expects that "in the coming days we will add 2-3 players, and others will have to leave".

This morning it turns out that the first player expected to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv is Ilon Almog, who may very soon leave for Austria to complete his move on loan to Hartberg.

If all the details work out and the parties reach a full conclusion, Almog may take off today to undergo medical tests in preparation for a possible signing with the Austrian team that courted him last season as well, but then the contacts between the clubs did not mature and Almog did not receive permission to leave.

Maccabi Tel Aviv are now ready for a loan deal for the season with a purchase option, and the striker who failed to make his mark in the senior team will go overseas for the first time in his career.

Almog came up to the seniors in the yellow uniform, in the previous term of the coach Vladan Ivic, but now it seems that the Serbian coach is not counting on him for the coming season and therefore he received the blessing of the way to go to the Austrian team.

The 23-year-old Almog grew up in the youth department of Maccabi Tel Aviv and left the club only when he was loaned for half a season to Hapoel Hadera in January 2019. This season Almog participated only twice as a substitute in Maccabi Tel Aviv's matches against Zira, and did not participate at all against Aris Thessaloniki.

Last season was also not easy for him and during it he scored only one league goal and a total of six goals in 32 games in all formats.

Even in the 2020/21 season, he finished with only four goals in all competitions, but in 2019/20, under Ivić and after returning from his loan in Hadera, he stood out with 5 goals and 4 assists in 22 games.

As for Hartberg, his designated team has won only one game out of the four rounds of the league it has held so far and last season finished the Austrian Bundesliga in ninth place.
