The European Championships in Munich inspire the masses.
The Olympic Stadium escalates - and as a reporter you have to complete a hurdle race.
Munich - On Wednesday it was time again.
After Niklas Kaul's sensational gold, the reporter began his own competition.
First: the sprint into the mixed zone.
Here the athletes run through after they have previously given countless TV interviews.
Then it's time to wait and be vigilant.
As soon as a successful athlete walks by, you can hear it.
Or feel it.
For example, when Marcell Jacobs, Olympic champion and now also European champion in the 100 m sprint, showed up.
Numerous artistic contortions were necessary to avoid the oncoming Italian reporters.
A hurdler couldn't have done better.
Then comes the athlete who interests you (with Niklas Kaul it took a total of one hour), tactics are the order of the day.
As with a 10,000 meter run, the question arises: Where am I in the field?
If you stand at the front, you are surrounded by 20 colleagues and can say goodbye to the fresh air.
But if you stand too far back, you have to stretch your arm extremely to hold the cell phone in front of the athlete's mouth to record the sound.
It's the perfect training for beer mug lifting.
Yesterday the author decided on a mix.
Distance with Kaul, closeness and arm relieve with Arthur Abele.
Today Malaika Mihambo jumps for gold.
You can now imagine what will happen in the mixed zone afterwards.
