With five starting PSG players, the France Under-20 team beat South Korea overnight to climb to the top

The beautiful summer of Les Bleuettes continues.

Thanks to a victory (1-0) against South Korea on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, the France under-20 team qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Cup, which is being played in Costa Rica.

The winning goal was scored by Montpellier striker Esther Mbakem-Niaro (74th).

Beaten when they entered the competition by Nigeria (0-1), the young French women had caught up with Canada (3-1) in the second group match.

This new victory allows them to finish in second place in Group C, behind Nigeria.

Consequence: they will face in the quarter-finals Japan, defending champion, on the night of Sunday to Monday (4 am in France).

Crowned in the last edition played in France in 2018, the Japanese finished first in Group D, undefeated, with three successes (six goals scored and only one conceded).

They will be the favorites of the meeting.

The French team of coach Sonia Haziraj will still seek to climb into the last four, as was the case in the last three editions (3rd in 2014, 2nd in 2016, 4th in 2018).

In the France group, seven PSG players are present, including captain Laurina Fazer, decisive against South Korea.

“She has that strength, to hit the ball at her feet, to be able to pass a line on her first touch, and find herself hitting against the opposing defensive line.

She really has this force of percussion, ”explains the coach for the specialized site Footféminin.fr.

Against South Korea, Parisians Jade Le Guilly, Laurina Fazer, Magnaba Folquet, Manssita Traoré and Hawa Sangaré were starters.

Océane Hurtré came into play at the end of the game when goalkeeper Océane Toussaint remained on the bench.

Two Paris FC players, Célina Ould Hocine and Thiniba Samoura were also starters.

Their club teammates, Anaëlle Tchakounté and Lou Bogaert, were substitutes.
