The Briton Zharnel Hughes, already vice-champion of Europe in the 100m, was crowned Friday evening in the 200m at the Munich Athletics Euro.
Silver medalist in the 100m last Sunday in 9 sec 99, behind Italian Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs (9.95), Hughes, 26, set his best time of the year in 20 sec 07 ahead of his compatriot Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (20.17) and the Italian Filippo Tortu (20.27).
Hughes won his third continental title, after the 100m and 4x100m at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018. He is also continuing his great summer, marked by two medals at the Commonwealth Games in July, silver in the 200m and gold in the 4x100m relay.
