The 19-year-old Paralympic tennis player Maayan Zikri won the Future wheelchair tennis tournament in Romania today (Friday).
In the final she beat the 18th ranked in the world Emmanuel Morech from France - 7:5, 1:6, 4:6.
The achievement was recorded by Zikri, who is ranked 31st in the world, in the absence of her coach, Ofri Lankri, who is on maternity leave, when she is currently training with Nimrod Bichler, and was accompanied to Romania by fitness coach Yuval Lutvik.
Also in the pairs category Zikri won first place together with a British partner after a victory over partners from Romania with a score of 0:2.
Zikri's leg was amputated when she was 10 years old during a family vacation following an accident that happened in a tube machine at an amusement park in the Netherlands, when at the age of 13 she already participated in the European Championship in Handicapped Basketball, but withdrew due to a rule that did not allow her to play in the boys' team, so she chose to switch to tennis.
The day before, Shraga Weinberg won first place again in the quad category after beating a Romanian tennis player with a score of 0:2.
This is Weinberg's 47th international victory.
In men's doubles, Adam Berdichevsky and Sergey Lisov were defeated in the semi-finals by a British pair.
