There were many indications of the second home win of SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz in the Regionalliga Südwest.

But despite the lead, the SGB completely lost control in the home game against the U23s of 1. FSV Mainz 05 and lost 1:3 (0:0).

After the 0:3 defeat against VfR Aalen, SGB coach Sedat Gören made two changes.

Moritz Reinhard returned to the starting XI and ousted Tolga Duran, while Kristian Gaudermann defended on the right.

Marius Löbig was not in the squad.

However, Gören was forced to change again early in the game because Dominik Rummel injured his thigh.

Dominik Wüst replaced the striker.

SG Barockstadt with more ball possession against passive Mainz

Mainz were expected to play well and had the right material in Eniss Shabani and Ben Bobzien, both of whom signed professional contracts in the Bundesliga team.

However, coach Jan Siewert's team, who coached Huddersfield Town in the Premier League and is familiar with working with young players from his time with Borussia Dortmund's U23s, gave SG Barockstadt possession of the ball.

The visitors didn't have a chance to score in the first half.

However, the hosts didn't know what to do with the possession they were given, and the SGB game lacked depth.

Jonas Pfalz had the greatest chance after almost half an hour when he was sent on his way by Wüst, but his lob landed on the goal net.

However, the Gören-Elf showed a good performance again, won many duels in midfield and rarely let the rather passive Mainz team switch.

Mainz, however, came out of the dressing room as if they had been changed and scored 60 seconds after the restart from substitute Simon Brandstetter, but the second-division-experienced striker was ruled offside.

A roughly seven-minute thunderstorm interruption took away the momentum from the guests - which gave the SGB the lead.

Reinhard was fouled in the penalty area, Marius Grösch converted as in the first home game.

Although not so sure, Riess deflected the ball to the post, from where he went in (59th).

However, Mainz confirmed the impression of the first few minutes after the restart, who were much more agile and active than in the first 45 minutes - and also came back into play with a penalty.

Kaito Mizuta scored to equalize after Tobias Wolf knocked Shabani down (69').

Mizuta should load Wolf again when he tunneled him to the lead a good ten minutes later (78th).

The decision was made by Brandstetter, who used all his experience, crossed three SGB defenses and duped Wolf with a lob (85th).
