The Olympic champion in apparatus gymnastics, Artyom Dolgupiat, will compete today (Sunday) in the floor apparatus final at the European Championships in Munich, aiming to win the gold medal for the second time in his career.
The 25-year-old Dolgopiat advanced to the grand final after finishing the qualifying stage with a score of 14.266 points, which ranked him sixth overall, after leaving the surface in one of the sections in the exercise, when without the mistake he would have been ranked first.
In the final itself, according to the draw that was held in advance, Dolgopiat will take the field seventh in the order of performances, when he will see before him most of the contestants coming up one after the other and he will know what he needs to do to get the medal.
To date, Dolgopiat's impressive resume includes four medals in the major continental competition, when two years ago in Turkey he obtained the gold medal on the floor and added the bronze in the jumps, and he also won the silver medals in 2018 and 2019.
In addition, he holds the two silver medals at the World Championships in 2017 in Montreal and 2019 in Stuttgart and of course the historic gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year.
