FC Bayern Munich also got a clear win in the third game of the new Bundesliga season.
At VfL Bochum, the ten-time defending champion won 7-0 (4-0), the goals were scored by Leroy Sané (4th minute), Matthijs de Ligt (25th), Kingsley Coman (33rd), Sadio Mané (42nd, 60th ), Bochum's Cristian Gamoba (69', own goal) and Serge Gnabry (76').
With a goal difference of 15:1, Bayern are at the top of the table, while Bochum is in last place without a win.
In Bochum, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann had to do without three regulars in his starting line-up: Alphonso Davies (muscular problems) and Jamal Musiala (strain) were injured and Gnabry was initially on the bench.
Instead, de Ligt, Sané and Coman played - and all three substitutes scored.
Mané first with the hand, then regularly
Sané started with an angle shot well worth seeing from Coman (4'), next was de Ligt, who benefited from his header when VfL keeper Manuel Riemann misjudged a corner kick (25').
The 3-0 came after a mistake by defender Gamboa, who wanted to head back to Riemann.
Müller was able to disrupt this, and Coman pushed in the free ball from close range (33').
Mané needed two attempts for his second goal of the season.
The first, supposed, 4:0 was denied because the newcomer played the ball into the goal with his hand (40th).
He was already grinning while the video assistant checked the scene.
Mané scored two minutes after a pass from Coman (42nd).
The game was already decided at half-time.
But the goals went further.
Referee Daniel Siebert awarded the guests a penalty for Saidy Janko fouling Coman.
Mané grabbed it and turned it into the left corner with a low shot (60').
A player from Bochum also scored, but into his own goal: in a running duel with Sané, Gamboa pushed the ball past Riemann, who stormed out, into the empty goal.
After being substituted on, Gnabry made it 7-0 (76th).
