The great ability displayed by Maccabi Tel Aviv in the games against Nice and Aris Thessaloniki in the Conference League causes a strong belief in the club ahead of the start of the season in the league, which will begin this evening (Sunday) with a home game against newcomer Benny Rayna. The team believes that Voladan Ivić and his players are capable of returning the championship plate to Kiryat Shalom .
One of the most important players in the team is undoubtedly midfielder Dan Glazer, who will return to the yellow team tonight, and may even start in the lineup, after not participating in the victory over the French last Thursday due to a red card dismissal.
"In the last two years, we failed to start the season," says Glazer in an interview with Israel Hayom, adding: "And we know that in this league it is very important to start on the right foot and in a good way. We hope to do that."
How is the current Maccabi Tel Aviv different compared to last season?
"A coach that we all know came to us and he built a very tough team, very trained, very disciplined, and I hope you will see it from the first moment. We, the players, know that we will have to work very hard because the competition for the team is greater. Every player has to prove himself in every training session and every game whose place is on the field. I'm sure that this competition for a place in the lineup and in the squad will cause the results to come."
You played in the previous term for Vladan Ivic. Does he remain the same coach we knew?
"You have to ask him that. Ivić is a professional, he comes to every training session with a known plan, and everyone knows what he needs to do at any given moment. At the same time, you can always talk to him about everything, his door is always open for us to talk about personal things Or about things that bother us. We know that when we step on the grass - for him it's only purely professional, but off the grass he supports us in everything we need."

How do you see the championship fight against Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel BS?
"Both are excellent teams with squads that have been playing together for two or three years. It will be a tough fight, but we are also a very strong team. I think the more competition there is between the teams, it will contribute to the league. It will also cause more interest and ratings, and that's what we want it to be."
"Of course Nice is a favorite"
The interview with Glazer took place before the impressive victory over Nice, but even then the midfielder sounded confident in his team's ability to knock out the French and qualify for the group stages of the Conference League, something that currently seems achievable.
"In football, everything is possible," says Glazer, "I've been in this profession for several years and I know that every game is different and everything is possible. Of course it will be difficult and Nice is the favorite, but we believe in ourselves and we will do it. We respect them and it will be very difficult, but we will fly To win and pass them."
Finally, tell us about the collaboration with Eran Zahavi?
"Eran Zahavi is a tremendous professional. We see how he works hard in training, how much he wants to succeed, and he sweeps us along behind him. It's great fun that he is with us in the team."
Ahead of tonight's game in Bloomfield, it seems that Ivic is expected to perform a wide rotation, to rest some of the players who started in the game against Nice and are supposed to be in the lineup for the rematch in France as well.
Stipa Fritza, who scored on Thursday, is nominated to open.
