The official chapter of the Israel national team in the summer of 2022 will actually begin tomorrow (Monday), when the blue-whites take off for a match against Finland in the World Cup qualifiers on Thursday.
After that they will host Sweden in the first and go to the European Championship in Prague, which they will open against the Finns next Friday.
Captain Gal Meckle commented on the condition of his father-in-law, former star Willie Sims, who has been hospitalized since suffering a heart attack last week: "I won't enter the medical record, but the situation is not good. We are sitting by his bed and praying. I missed the last game to be with the family I love Willy very much, and it's hard."

Danny Avdia did not lower expectations regarding the team's performance in the European Championship.
"I believe we can do great things in EuroBasket as well," said team star Danny Avdia.
"It's a great honor for me to wear this uniform. I started in the cadets, and now I'm reaching my first championship with the senior team. It's a dream I didn't see happening. There's no pressure on me. I like that I have a big responsibility.
"They always took us as an underdog.
We are not the most athletic, fast or strong team, nor will we be, but we bring something that other teams do not have - like war and heart.
The fact that we come from such a low place gives us the drive.
That's what was fun in the reserve, and I wish we'd have a medal in the final as well."
About the hype surrounding him since he returned to Israel, Avdia said: "I feel that I am respected. To see children who come from all kinds of far away places to see me and the national team is a dream for me. I am not in Israel much, and I don't have many opportunities to play here. I remember myself When I saw players, I looked up at them and got excited. I try to treat everyone equally and be the best example I can."
