Gymnast Artyom Dolgopiat after winning the European Championships (Gymnastics Union Spokesperson)

There was great joy among the Israeli delegation after Artyom Dulogupiat won the gold medal today (Sunday) at the European Championships in floor exercise.

The Olympic champion finished the floor exercise with an impressive score of 14.966 - the same score that earned him first place in Tokyo as well.

"I'm very happy to return to my first big competition after the Olympics and happy that I did a good exercise today," Dulogopiat said after the win.

"I want to thank my beloved club Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Gymnastics Association, the Olympic Committee, the Sports Achievement Unit, the coaches and Adam the physiotherapist who rehabilitated me after the leg injury. Thank you all."
