The Britney Greiner storm continues to preoccupy the United States as a whole and American sports in particular.
As you remember, the basketball player was arrested in Russia for drug possession when she was caught with an inhaler of cannabis oil, and recently the court sentenced her to a heavy sentence of nine years in prison.
At the highest levels in the United States they are working for her release, but in the meantime there is an unexpected figure who tries to enter the equation - Dennis Rodman.
The former American basketball player, one of the colorful and controversial figures the NBA has known, said that he intends to fly to Russia this week in order to work for the release of his compatriot.
"I received permission to fly," Rodman said, although it is not clear from whom the permission was received, "I know Vladimir Putin too well."
If Rodman does manage to get to the point of meeting the Russian leader, it won't be the first time the two have met, when after his visit to Moscow in 2014, Rodman called Putin "cool."
As we know, Rodman has a rather short resume of meetings with world leaders who have dubious relations with his native United States, when he met several times with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and even visited the isolated country several times.
In the past, Rodman even gave himself credit as the one who had a part in freeing an American citizen from the country in the Far East.
Now it remains to be seen whether Rodman will be able to work his magic once again and somehow influence one of the biggest diplomatic storms between the United States and Russia in recent years.
