Manchester United could not dream of a worse start to the season.

After losing at home to Brighton, the big humiliation came against Brentford.

At this time the Red Devils are trying to recover precisely at the expense of Liverpool, the European runner-up, who also started the season badly with two draws.

The coach of the team Eric Ten Haag decided to drop Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire from the lineup for the important game, hoping for a change.

Jurgen Klopp's side are also missing Darwin Nunes, the Uruguayan striker who was bought for a big sum in the summer but is serving a lengthy suspension following the challenge and red card against Crystal Palace.

The one who took Nunes' place is Roberto Firmino, with Luis Diaz playing next to him in the attack squad, who saved Liverpool from losing in the passing round, and of course Mohamed Salah.

His double set up United's last home win in the league over Liverpool.

Erik ten Haag enjoys a fairly full squad, but this does not include Casemiro, the Brazilian midfielder who joined from Real Madrid, and should add the defensive dimension that is so lacking to the Red Devils, who conceded 6 goals in the two opening rounds.

Casemiro arrived at Old Trafford and was also introduced to the home crowd.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to search for a debut goal this season, was replaced in the lineup by Anthony Martial.

Liverpool scored four and five in their two previous visits to Old Trafford in the league, but in the cup it was United who knocked out the runners-up with a dramatic 2:3.

The last time United beat their big league rivals at home was sometime in March 2018, when Marcus Rashford starred with a brace.
