The leader was making slow progress (5.5 knots) in light airs (6.5 knots of wind).

Remember that the race management decided on Monday to shorten the course by 85 miles to allow the 34 skippers not to reach Port-la-Forêt too late before the start of the 2nd stage on Sunday.
The sailors will not go as far as the Island of Skokholm (Wales).
