The lions start their preparations: the positives outweigh the problems at the tills, the kiosk and in defence

Bad Tölz - The balance of the start is positive despite everything: The defeat against Rosenheim did not come as a surprise.

The Starbulls are traded as favorites for the major leagues.

But there were some good actions by the Tölzer Löwen on the ice, a lot of commitment and fighting spirit on the part of the players, a surprising number of spectators and, as TEG boss Ralph Bader thinks, a successful presentation of the team in the run-up to the 2:6 defeat in the first preparatory game on Sunday.

"I'm happy with the day, even though there's a lot of work behind it."

Adjustment screws on and off the ice

And he also had to pay a bit of tuition.

Throughout the day, several hundred fans at the team presentation, 1328 spectators at the game - and only one box office open for advance sales.

"Waiting half an hour to buy a ticket is just not possible," admits Bader.

"That was a mistake, I have to put my shoes on, it won't happen again," he promises contritely.

Waiting for the beer is chalked up to the Tölzer Löwen

And someone else was obviously surprised by the interest shown by the ice hockey fans: restaurant owner Milan Bojic, who only opened a kiosk during the game and stood at the bar himself without any further support.

After the first third of the game, he got unexpected help (see below).

Bader smiles about the Rosenheimer Schützenhilfe, but actually finds the matter less amusing.

"Meeting with friends, drinking a beer, eating something - that's part of ice hockey," says the Garmisch-Partenkirchner.

And if there is a problem with the bar, it falls back on the lions.

"People blame us for that, even if I have no influence on the economy and the kiosks in the stadium," Bader clarifies.

"That's purely a matter for the municipal utilities."

The 57-year-old attaches great importance to the fact that the beer bar will be better in the future and would like to support Bojic with tips.

"Maybe he should also activate the kiosk team that has been in action so far."

Community between association and GmbH

But overall, Bader is satisfied with the course of the team presentation.

"I especially liked the community between the ice club and the Tölzer Eissport-Gesellschaft." This shows that the interaction, the common identification between EC Bad Tölz and Tölzer Löwen is working better and better.

Matchmaking still ongoing

However, there is still a lot to be done, to make various adjustments.

For coaches and those responsible, for example when looking for a player.

And for individual players in fitness.

"One or the other still has to make sure that he gets in shape in time," demands Bader.

However, some new signings have already convinced with their commitment and performance.

Foreigners and veterans for the defense

Nevertheless: Bader and trainer Ryan Foster are still looking for reinforcements for the defensive, which is currently quite manageable with two experienced players and three talents (Tilmann Sullivan Schönfeld with a trial contract).

"We still need two decent defenders," says Bader.

As of now, one of them should be a foreigner for the vacant contingent position.

The Löwen boss has been in contact with an experienced German defensive specialist for weeks.

External factors prevent a contract from being signed.

The market does not offer many alternatives.
