A legendary Ferrari owned by Formula 1 icon Michael Schumacher was auctioned - for a steep price.

Schumi has won every race with the 187 chassis.

Monterey - The myth of Michael Schumacher lives on - even if the Formula 1 legend himself no longer appears in public.

The seven-time world champion was seriously injured in a skiing accident in winter 2013, and since then there has been little news about his health.

Only this much is known: old friends and companions like Jean Todt visit Schumi again and again, even watch Formula 1 races with him.

It is quite possible that the former Ferrari team boss and his protégé are not only following Michael's son Mick Schumacher, who is now completing his second premier class season.

Maybe the two will watch racing highlights from the past, when Schumi himself was still in the cockpit.

Previously, the Scuderia didn't want to be enough for a world championship - Schumacher switched from Benetton to the Italians in 1996 as a two-time champion.

The big successes should not follow until 2000.

Before the long Ferrari streak, Schumacher was already close to the Formula 1 crown in 1998, but in the end the Kerpener had to admit defeat to Mika Häkkinen.

Nevertheless, this season was remembered because: Schumacher wrote history in his legendary F300.

At the end of 1999, the previous owner bought it directly from Ferrari.
