The Athletics Association held a press conference today (Wednesday) after the great success at the European Championships, in which Israel doubled the amount of medals won to date, with five in total.
During the championship, the members of the marathon team achieved the team gold medal by Maro Tefri, Girma Amre, Yamar Gethon, Bocayo Melda, Geshao Ayala and Omar Ramon, when Tefri also obtained the silver in the individual competition and Ayala the bronze.

In addition, Luna Chemtai Salpeter won the bronze in the 10,000 meters run, and the triple jumper Hana Minenko also won a bronze.
Chemtai Salpeter commented on the criticism leveled at her last year: "I don't need to prove to anyone, I know what I have to do and I bet on this season that everything went as planned, it gave me a lot of confidence for next year and of course for the Paris 2024 Olympics."

Maru Tefri said: "I am so happy to represent Israel in every competition, happy that we succeeded in this marathon. Thank you to all the coaches who cooperated. This achievement belongs to all of us, we helped each other. I am happy that the marathon in Israel and running in Israel are improving so much and I hope it continues like this."
"I feel super happy about the great achievement," said Minenko.
"It was hard work. I thank my coach Rogel Nahum, we worked very hard to get the medal in Munich, probably 50 years later, we will work hard for the Olympics when the goal is to pass the 15 meters, so that we can bring a medal."
