Damascus-SANA

Syria will host the thirteenth Arab kickboxing championship for young men, women and women categories using “Full Contact, Semi-Contact and K-One” methods, organized by the Game Federation in cooperation with Cham Wings and Shams Academy on the 14th of next month at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus.

In a statement to SANA, the head of the Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Mixed Fighting Federation, Manar Al-Bazra, indicated that Syria's hosting of this tournament, which includes nine separate competitions, indicates the organizational and technical ability of the game federation, in addition to the presence of qualified cadres of players and coaches, noting the support of the General Sports Federation by securing all requirements and requirements. The success of the tournament, emphasizing at the same time that the participation of the member states in the Arab Game Federation is a message of support and love for Syrian sport.

Al-Bazra explained that the preparations for the tournament are going according to plan, and that the federation turned into a workshop to achieve a decent hosting of the tournament, in which more than ten Arab countries are expected to participate, as the participating official teams were granted free entry and facilities in hotels and transportation.

Al-Bazra added: “The Game Association has set up gatherings for provincial players with their coaches and a training camp in Damascus to reach the physical readiness of the national team players who suffer from lack of experience and external friction, but the compensation will be with enthusiasm and thirst for achievement, knowing that the union depends on players and players whose average age is twenty-two years.

Al-Bazra indicated that the reality of our game does not live up to our ambitions, but we are working hard to raise the level of the players, and we have hosted Arab teams and established joint tournaments during the past months in order to engage and gain experiences because our external participation in large numbers of players is not possible, so we will involve a large number of young men and women in the next tournament.

On promoting the culture of playing the game and transferring it to professionalism, the President of the Kickboxing Federation stressed that sports in Syria are for amateurs, with the exception of football, basketball, and professionalism. A huge financial support will be launched at a meeting to be held on the sidelines of the tournament.

It is noteworthy that kickboxing and Muay Thai have won Olympic recognition, and soon six games will be included in the 2028 Olympics, including kickboxing.
