TSV 1860: The 3rd league check - nobody marches like the lions

The start of the season for TSV 1860 was successful.

The lions say hello from the top of the table after five games, while not everything is going well for the co-favourites.

Munich – If you had predicted to TSV 1860 five weeks ago that Michael Köllner's team would be the only ones to lead the 3rd division without losing a point after five games, almost everyone in the Löwen cosmos would have subscribed to this prospect without hesitation.

The preparation after missing out again went well, no question.

But the fact that nine newcomers were added also held a certain potential.

It would not have been surprising if many players had yet to find each other, the top-class third division squad would not have been a team by a long shot.

But things turned out differently, sixty greets from the top and the course towards league two is right.

In terms of sport, things are going well, other top clubs can only dream of that.

TSV 1860: Climbing competitors still with problems

The SGD has the problem that could have hit 1860 as well: There are good individual players under contract.

But the team still has to find itself and coach Markus Anfang the team.

In addition, the misery of the past second half of the season is still hanging in the clothes when not a single win was achieved.

Slowly but surely it's time for Beginning to bring the necessary consistency to the team.

Coach Timo Rost, who last led Bayreuth up from the regional league, should do it.

But the club is in 17th place. Direct resurgence currently seems impossible.

If Aue doesn't get their first win soon, things will look bleak for Rost.

Things are similarly sluggish at

(13th place).

Lila-Weiss has only scored five points so far.

Low point: At newly promoted Bayreuth, the team embarrassed themselves with 0:1.

Coach Daniel Scherning left the club just five days later for second division Arminia Bielefeld, and the search for a successor is dragging on.

Recently, Tobias Schweinsteiger seemed to be a candidate for the post.

The brother of world champion Bastian was, among other things, an assistant coach at FC Bayern II and is currently at 1. FC Nürnberg.

Whoever it will be: you shouldn't give yourself much time at VfL.

The Saarlanders are shooting from victory to victory, have already thrown Bayer Leverkusen out of the cup and are - if you only look at the table - currently the Lion's worst pursuer.

Once again a climber who is about to get involved at the top.

The most recent were Türkgücü Munich (2020/21) and Viktoria Berlin (21/22).

But at the latest in the second half of the season, the vertical start was over.

That left the usual suspects:

in fourth place and

in seventh place have so far kept up with the top places.

With MSV Duisburg in fifth place, the problem child of the league in recent years has also made it back to the top.

The same applies to zebras: wait and see how long the uptrend will last.

Lots of light, lots of shadows in the 3rd division.

There is only one club where you can confidently have the feeling that it could work out this season.

The will to win is too great, the squad too balanced.
