The German champions will play against their former top striker Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League.
In the group stage draw in Istanbul, Bayern Munich ended up in a group with Lewandowski's new club, FC Barcelona.
Bayern and Barça were in the same group last season and the Bundesliga side won both games 3-0.
The other opponents are Inter and Czech club Viktoria Pilsen.
Borussia Dortmund was eliminated in the preliminary round last season.
This year BVB was only seeded in pot 3 and was drawn into a group with Manchester City, the club to which Dortmund lost their former goalscorer Erling Haaland in the summer.
Dortmund also has to play against FC Sevilla and FC Copenhagen.
RB Leipzig also failed in the group stage, this year the defending champions are waiting with Real Madrid.
The Ukrainian first division side Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic were identified as other group opponents.
Second place to reach the knockout phase seems feasible for Leipzig.
