Maccabi Haifa players react to the Champions League draw (Editor: Lear Spiegel)

Maccabi Haifa is already counting down to the start of the Champions League qualifying campaign.

After the games in 2002/3 it hosted in Cyprus and the games in 2009/10 at Ramat Gan Stadium, this time the champion will host the group stage games of the prestigious factory for the first time on its home field.

The Greens were drawn to Group 8, along with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Nefica, and the three new opponents have already reacted to the results of the draw and the meeting against Barak Becher's team.

The president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khalaifi, said of the draw: "This is the best league in the world and we are proud to be a part of it. Something has changed in our club, we have just started. We want to win every game, we will have to prepare well and it is important that we remain calm and focused. We will give our maximum in everything game, we want to go as far as possible, of course our goal is to reach the final."

Similar to its previous campaign in the champions, this time too Maccabi Haifa will meet Juventus.

The vice president and former player of the Bianconeri, Pavel Nadved, commented on the results of the draw: "In the Champions League, you can't take anything for granted. We have a double challenge against PSG, but the meetings against Benfica and Maccabi Haifa won't be easy either. We are happy to come to Israel after we couldn't make it to the friendly match against Atlético Madrid. We need to be focused and come with the same determination to all the games, many challenges await us."

Former player Simao Severosa, who currently serves as a member of the board at Benfica, complimented Maccabi Haifa: "Everyone knows Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain is full of stars. For those who don't know, Maccabi Haifa is the champion of Israel. Just like us, they were very successful in the qualifying rounds. It's a tough home, but our goal is always to go through. It's a very high level home and we have six interesting games ahead of us. We'll try to do our best."
