VfB Hallbergmoos has managed to land an international U16 tournament - with several European heavyweights taking part.

Hallbergmoos

– It sounds like the Champions League when clubs like FC Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, FC Chelsea, Juventus Turin, FC Chelsea, Benfica Lisbon or Dinamo Zagreb meet.

On Saturday and Sunday, 27./28.

August, VfB Hallbergmoos hosts the Euroyouth Cup U 16, which is also broadcast live on TV on Sport 1.

VfB benefits from the fact that deputy head of department Tobias Bracht and sporting director Anselm Küchle have close ties to professional football through their work at the International Football Institute Ismaning.

This is how I got in touch with Sebastian Britz, who organizes games and tournaments with the German Football Agency.

He was looking for a venue for a top-class U16 youth tournament - and found what he was looking for in Hallbergmoos.

The sports park, the proximity to the airport and the good hotel situation offer the necessary infrastructure.

"This tournament is a unique opportunity for us," says Bracht.

U16 of VfB Hallbergmoos can play against the big ones themselves

VfB is involved in the event with stewards and the supply of spectators.

A special treat for the club is that their own U16s can take part in the action themselves on the second day of the tournament.

After the start with three groups of three, you come onto the field as the tenth team and play out places eight to ten with two third-placed teams.

The ranks five to seven are also played in another group of three.

The playing time is 40 minutes for all games.

According to reports, VfB could face Chelsea.

At the London club, those responsible made it clear that the U16s are currently the weakest youth group.

What weak means for the “Blues” will only become apparent on Saturday.

The English sent an official in advance because the club inspects all venues in advance.

In the final planning phase of the tournament, FC Ingolstadt slipped into the field as a local club.

The Schanzer replace Olympique Marseille, the French had problems with the flights.
