Marseille fans are banned from traveling to Nice for the Nice-OM match scheduled for Sunday (3:00 p.m.) and counting for the 4th day of Ligue 1, due to the risk of

"serious public order disturbances"

, according to a ministerial decree published Friday.

The movement

"individual or collective, by any means, of any person claiming to be a supporter of the Olympique de Marseille club or behaving as such is prohibited between the municipalities of Bouches-du-Rhône and the municipality of Nice. , Sunday August 28 from midnight to midnight”

, provides for the ministerial decree published in the Official Journal.

"Only a ban on the movement (...) of people claiming the quality of supporter of Olympique de Marseille is likely to avoid all the serious risks for the safety of people and property"

, adds the decree signed by the Minister of the Interior.

In this text, the ministry considers that the movements of the OM club

"are very frequently a source of public order disturbances"

and ensures that during the meetings organized in Nice,

"certain OGC Nice supporters frequently adopt a violent behavior”.

Just a year ago, on August 22, 2021, the reception of OM at the Allianz Riviera was the scene of serious incidents, with the invasion of the pitch by Nice supporters, one of whom had struck blows in the middle of Marseille field Dimitri Payet, previously hit by a bottle of water thrown by a supporter.

The Nice club was then penalized by a withdrawal of two points, one of which was suspended, and three matches behind closed doors.

The Nice-OM match had been replayed on neutral ground.

In the absence of Marseille supporters on Sunday, the visitor parking lot should accommodate the Nice Ultras usually placed in the Tribune Populaire Sud.

This one will indeed be closed, in sanction of the insulting songs towards the memory of the former Nantes player Emiliano Sala,

launched by Gym supporters during a match against Saint-Etienne in May.

The Disciplinary Committee had decided to close this stand for two matches.

Sunday's will be the second.
