Olympique Lyonnais and PSG will compete for the first title of the season on Sunday evening as part of the Champions Trophy which will take place

The 2022-2023 season officially starts this Sunday at 9 p.m. for women with the Champions Trophy.

After the cancellation of the last two editions due to the health crisis, Olympique Lyonnais, champion of France, and Paris Saint-Germain, winner of the Coupe de France, will compete for the title.

For the occasion, the Tribute stadium in Dunkirk will be full.

All 5,000 tickets have been sold.

Advantage Lyon on confrontations

It's a classic of women's football that awaits us, Sunday evening, between the two biggest hexagonal teams.

In 59 confrontations so far, Lyon have a favorable balance with 37 wins, 15 draws and only 7 defeats against PSG, the last of which was in the Coupe de France 3-0 last season.

The balance of power has also been clearly balanced in recent years, seeing the Parisian club play evenly or even better against its rival.

In 2019, the two clubs had already faced each other for the first edition of the Champions Trophy.

Lyon got away with the suspense by winning the penalty shootout (1-1, 4-3 on pens).

Paris will want its revenge.

Precheur finds OL

It is a well-known face of Olympique Lyonnais who sat on the PSG bench this summer.

Indeed, to succeed Didier Ollé-Nicolle, the Parisian club has chosen to appoint Gérard Prêcheur as the new coach.

Particularly renowned in women's football, the 62-year-old technician led Lyon from 2014 to 2017 with great success since he won the Champions League there twice (2016 and 2017).

This Sunday, he will challenge his former assistant in the Rhône, Sonia Bompastor.

"He's someone I really appreciate.

He made me grow as a player and a coach.

We like each other and I'm happy that he's at the helm of Paris because he's a very good coach.

He will advance PSG but also the championship, ”warned the Lyon coach.

Paris without its star Katoto, but with Martens

For this first major meeting of the season, 19 Parisiennes have been summoned by Gérard Prêcheur, including the former Barcelona player Lieke Martens.

The striker, 5th in the last Ballon d'Or, is fully recovered from his foot injury contracted during the last Euro.

She appears in the Parisian group, like the other summer recruits: goalkeeper Lydia Williams, defender Marina Georgieva, midfielder Oriane Jean-François and striker Berglind Björg Thorvaldsdotti, made official this week.

The big absentee is Marie-Antoinette Katoto.

The star striker of PSG seriously injured in the knee last month in selection continues his convalescence.

His return is hoped for March 2023.
