Sports in the youth city of Damascus is witnessing a diversity of practiced games and continuous training throughout the week, which made it a destination for many amateurs and athletes, and an important place for young age groups to prepare them optimally from an early age.
Gymnastics, sports dance, aerobics, Zumba, and martial arts, aikido, kickboxing, muay thai and taekwondo are among the city's distinguished sports, and all of them are very popular during the current period.
SANA monitored part of the training and met with a number of sports cadres. The director of the sports club, Mazen Badir, said, “The City of Youth enjoys a distinguished location in Damascus, which makes it attract many age groups. It is expected that the coming period will witness more members of the club in all the games it plays, especially after the fact that Sports games and their training programs have been expanded under the supervision of specialists from the training cadres for each game separately.”
Badir added, “We aspire to reach far with our male and female players through an academic work specialized in preparing young talents, which is being prepared with interest in developing other skill aspects of athletes, especially young ones, through other activities (music and drawing) to ensure the development of the creative side in its various aspects, indicating at the same time the importance of The presence of the deaf and dumb category in the club and preparing them like other athletes.”
Gymnastics coach Nawar Maalla indicated that the training is based on modern methods aimed at preparing the player physically and skillfully, as we conduct specific tests for the players before playing this game through specific criteria, most notably flexibility.
Mualla explained that the deaf and dumb category also has its mark in our sport, as a number of players organize with the teams we train and coordinate with sign language specialists to train them.
Different feelings that the young people in the club could not express except in their own way. Their love for sports made them launch one goal, which seems to be the continuation of sports to reach the Syrian team and share its championships and remarkable results, while the deaf and dumb players seemed more determined to work hard to reach the ultimate goal of representing the national team and achieving honorable titles in their championships. .
