2022-08-29T11:09:47.330Z

Almost three months before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, the DFB presents the new jerseys for the men's and women's teams, for the first time in a uniform design. A detail causes ridicule.

The German Football Association (DFB) today presented the new design of the national team jerseys.

For the first time there is a uniform design for women and men.

The home shirt with a wide black stripe down the middle is inspired by the first Germany shirt from 1908.

"That's a cool and strong sign," said Vice European Champion Lina Magull from Bayern Munich.

»This jersey symbolizes that we all stand for one football, live the same values together and have one goal.

We want to be successful and role models for the many girls and boys who love this sport as much as we do.«

The shirt by DFB outfitter Adidas will celebrate its premiere at the women's World Cup qualifier in Turkey on September 3rd.

"We look forward to wearing it at both the 2022 Men's World Cup and the 2023 Women's World Cup," said Magull.

The men's World Cup will be played in Qatar in winter (November 20 to December 18), the women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.

The mint green away jersey will remain in use for the women's national team, while the men will wear a black and red pattern for away games.

The shirt number and the DFB emblem are each placed in gold on the vertical black stripe.

The cuffs are black, the round collar shows the colors of the German flag.

“I really like the new home shirt.

The color combination harmonises, it will be an honor to play for Germany in this jersey at the World Cup," said Bayern player Serge Gnabry.

A detail in the collar of the jersey caused ridicule on social networks.

On the photos in the DFB fan shop you can read the name "The Team".

This was only recently abolished by the DFB because it had repeatedly caused displeasure among the fans.

The jerseys may have been produced before.

There was no statement from Adidas or the DFB.
