Defending champions RB Leipzig easily made it into the second round of the DFB Cup.

The Saxon Bundesliga team defeated fourth division team Teutonia Ottensen 8-0 (4-0) in the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday evening.

RB returnee Timo Werner with a hat-trick (19th minute/20th/43rd), André Silva with a brace (41st/53rd) and Emil Forsberg (56th), Christopher Nkunku (77th) and Dani Olmo ( 90.) scored the goals for Domenico Tedesco's team.

It was the highest win in RB Leipzig's young cup history.

Teutonia's DFB Cup premiere went as expected, with Leipzig alone setting the pace.

The first big chance was missed by André Silva, who headed against the post (7th).

Werner, who returned from the start, just missed the goal with a header (18').

A minute later he did better with his foot after a fine pass from Forsberg.

19 seconds after the restart, the national striker followed suit, and immediately afterwards a long-range shot from Xaver Schlager hit the post.

When Leipzig had just slowed down a bit, Werner served his strike partner Silva the 3-0.

Three minutes later, after another Forsberg assist, it was his turn again.

After that, keeper Yannick Zummack often alone successfully resisted the superiority of Leipzig.

Silva's precision shot, which bounced off the bottom edge of the bar, was powerless.

Forsberg scored the 6:0 with the hoe.

RB made four changes – but continued to shoot at the Teutonia goal almost every minute and increased.

Short-term exchange of home rights

Leipzig played the game at home in front of 13,084 spectators because Ottensen only has one artificial turf pitch, no alternative could be found in Hamburg and the turf at the alternative pitch in Dessau was damaged.

Before the game, Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff emphasized that he would financially support his first-round opponent in the cup after the poison attack on the lawn in Dessau, as announced.

"We have decided that we will make all of the income available to Teutonia," announced managing director Oliver Mintzlaff shortly before the game against the regional league team on Sky kicked off.

In addition, they want to “help the city of Dessau as well”.

In the absence of short-term alternatives, the German Football Association (DFB) agreed to an exchange of home rights at short notice, and the game was moved from Dessau to the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.

A week and a half ago, unknown persons dumped an apparently toxic substance on the lawn of the Paul Greifzu Stadium in Dessau, 350 kilometers from Hamburg.

This Wednesday, FC Bayern decides the first main round at Viktoria Köln.

Leipzig and Munich had played for the Supercup on the first cup weekend.
