At 35, the former Turkish international who also passed through Sochaux, Rennes or Saint-Etienne has decided to hang up his crampons.

It's a little twist of fate.

The day after the announcement of Guillaume Hoarau's retirement, his former partner in the PSG attack Mevlut Erding announced on Tuesday that he was in turn leaving the field.

Aged 35, the striker signed up for Besançon (National 2) this summer after spending five seasons in the Turkish league.

Less than two months after the announcement of his recruitment, the Besançon club announced on Tuesday that the player had "taken the decision to put a definitive end to his football career to begin a retraining".

An announcement also shared by the interested party via his Instagram account in a text written in Turkish, the country of origin of the one born in the Jura and whom he represented on the international scene.

"I will never forget the victories, the championships, the good memories and the friendships that I have experienced throughout my career", writes on the social network Mevlut Erding, accompanying his post with a photo showing him celebrating his goal in a clash against OM disputed with PSG in 2010. A celebration where the player had revealed a T-shirt with the words “Paris is magic”.

Revealed in his training club Sochaux, the center-forward had left the Doubs for the capital in 2009 against eight million euros, a relatively large sum for Ligue 1 at the time.

He then stayed two and a half seasons at PSG, winning a Coupe de France in 2010, before leaving the club in the winter of 2012 after a first part of the season where his coach Carlo Ancelotti had never established him.

“Thank you for everything Mevlut Erding.

110 games, 30 goals, Coupe de France 2010. Good continuation for the future, ”published PSG on Twitter.

Besides Rennes, the striker had also evolved in Saint-Etienne, Guingamp or Metz, as well as in Germany, in Hanover.

The player has also worn the jersey of Fenerbahçe, Basaksehir or Antalyaspor.

With Turkey, he has 35 selections and played in Euro 2008 where his selection reached the semi-finals.

On Instagram, Mevlut Erding spoke of "new projects" and hope "to return to the world of football soon".
