A few days before the official ceremony commemorating the 11 martyrs of the 1972 Munich Olympics, it seems that there was a breakthrough in the negotiations

A few days before the official ceremony in Germany commemorating the 11 martyrs of Munich, is the solution found? Local media reports that officials are campaigning with the families to increase the amount of compensation.

As first published in "Israel Hayom", the families of the Munich victims decided not to appear at the official ceremony organized by the German government to commemorate the anniversary of the massacre at the 1972 Olympics and because of this, the Olympic Committee also joined in and announced that they would not appear.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, ministers from both governments, the heads of the International Olympic Committee headed by Thomas Bach, the heads of the Israeli Olympic Committee headed by Yael Arad, the families of the 11, survivors and athletes were supposed to attend the ceremony, which is to take place next Monday.

As Ilana Romano, whose husband was killed in the attack, recalls, about the financial compensation offered by the Germans: "It's simply hell. They gave a shameful offer, unacceptable to us. They decide to pay according to German law. They need to understand that the attack was on an international stage and they need to pay according to an international standard like they paid in other events ."

According to the source, the initial amount spent of 55 million dollars is expected to increase to 23 million according to the family's demands, which should be divided among the families in the first instance.
