The moment of truth is upon us.
After a month of preparations, the Israeli national team will take off tomorrow for Prague, in preparation for the opening of the European Championship that will open at the end of the week.
Today (Tuesday) the team held a final training session at the Shlomo Group Hall in Tel Aviv.
The coach of the team, Guy Goodes, spoke before the championship and referred to the atmosphere in the team after the last two losses.
"We went through the last game and did a long correction of mistakes.
In the championship there will be no time for some of these things because it is very dynamic.
My job is to manage the business on the field and that's what I'm going to do.'
Goodes added: "We have a team of 12 players who know what they want from themselves and what they want to achieve.
The goal for him is a quarter-final and we are going to achieve it.
In Sweden the atmosphere was not good.
There was something mental, we weren't together and the players also understand that it can't come back.
We played good basketball throughout the preparation and there is no reason not to return to it now.'
The captain of the national team, Gal Mekel, spoke about the feelings after the last two losses: "We were weak against Sweden, but this is the World Championship and right now we are only concentrating on the European Championship.
Maybe the blow we took will do us good.
There is no lack of support or personal problems here.
There is a great company here who have been running together for years.
We will have to work on the chemistry on the court and return to our basketball.'
Rafi Manko concluded: "The last game was a catastrophe for me and it's not something we take for granted.
We all had a group conversation and realized that we need to come to the championship with a completely different approach.
I believe that we received a blow that woke us up, I believe in my friends and the team and I am sure that we will come to Prague and have a good championship and good games.'
