Mick Schumacher trembles about his future in Formula 1. His best buddy Esteban Ocon wants to bring Schumi junior to his Alpine team.

Munich – Mick Schumacher is fighting for a Formula 1 cockpit for next season.

Not a day goes by when he or other drivers, managers and experts are not asked about his future.

If Schumi junior does not work out with a contract extension at Haas, there are other options.

Mick Schumacher's best friend in Formula 1 is now campaigning for his buddy.

Alpine pilot Esteban Ocon is asking his racing team to sign the 23-year-old.

A scenario that is not all that unrealistic.

Formula 1: Schumi buddy advertises for Mick

“I told the team management that I would prefer to drive with Mick Schumacher.

We're friends, I think a lot of him," Ocon said.

The Frenchman is a regular driver at Alpine for next year.

A seat has become vacant next to him after Fernando Alonso will join Aston Martin to succeed Sebastian Vettel.

Alpine had actually announced the Australian Oscar Piastri as the new pilot.

The 21-year-old top talent surprisingly turned down the offer publicly and assured that he would not drive for Alpine.

Piastri is said to have instead signed a contract with McLaren to replace Daniel Ricciardo.

Alpine, however, insists on an allegedly valid contract with Piastri.

The arbitration board for contractual disputes in motorsport is now dealing with this case.

Should Piastri find his way to McLaren, the way would be free for Mick Schumacher to Alpine.

Ocon admitted that he did not exactly know Schumacher's contractual situation.

"But as I understand it, he hasn't signed anything for 2023 yet.

So I said to my people: Let's get Mick," revealed the one-time Grand Prix winner.

Ocon, who is two and a half years older than Schumi junior, drove in junior racing series like Mick for the Prema Powerteam.

The two are also good friends off the track.

Ocon has been driving in Formula 1 since 2016, but in the 2019 season he remained without a cockpit.

He hopes that the same fate should not befall Mick Schumacher.

Mick Schumacher in Formula 1?

Multiple teams possible

Mick Schumacher can still stay with Haas, even if his contract expires at the end of the year.

However, the US team is playing for time.

“We have no pressure to make a decision.

After all, nobody runs away,” explained team manager Günther Steiner.

Schumacher must continue to perform to secure a place for next season.

It doesn't sound like you really want to keep Michael Schumacher's son.

Mick's mentor Sebastian Vettel, who recently announced the end of his career, brought a move to McLaren into play.

"You don't finish fifth or sixth in the car, so it's difficult to attract attention," said the Aston Martin driver before the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort on Sunday about Schumacher's Haas.

"But he does his job well in the background and I wish him that he stays in and gets a good car." In addition to Haas, Alpine and McLaren, there could also be a chance for Mick with the teams from AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo and Williams .
