All summer it seemed that Donovan Mitchell would be traded to New York.
Tonight (Thursday) the Utah star was indeed traded - but not to the Big Apple, but rather to Cleveland.
According to reports in the United States, the Cubs sent Colin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, three unprotected first-round picks, and two options to swap draft picks with the Jazz in the future.
As part of the deal, Sexton signed a new four-year, $72 million contract with the Jazz.
The 23-year-old center missed most of last season due to injury, but the season before that averaged 24.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
Unexpected.

Mitchell (25, 1.85 m) was selected 13th overall in the 2017 draft by Utah, and quickly became one of the most exciting young stars in the league.
In the last three years he was selected for the All-Star game, and in the 2020/21 season he provided a spectacular playoff, in which he scored no less than 36.3 points per game in the postseason.
Last year he averaged 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in the regular season, but the Jazz decided to rebuild the team.
First Rudy Gober was sent to Minnesota, and now the foundation that made Utah a regular playoff team in the West is finally being dismantled.
