Danny Avdia showed up for his first EuroBasket with quite a bit of pressure on his shoulders.

The preparation was not ideal - two losses in the qualifiers for the World Championship, a corona that weakened him, and quite a few noises and criticisms.

Today (Friday), the Washington player answered all these criticisms, when he provided a wonderful personal performance on both sides of the field and swept the Israeli team to 87:89 over Finland after overtime.

Avdia's statistical line is unusual for an Israeli player: 23 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks (31 index points).

Equally important, although against Lauri Markkanen he scored 33 points, Avdia provided excellent protection for the NBA star, especially in the decisive moments.

The show also attracted attention across the continent and overseas.

Greek journalist Christoph Celtas added: "Another evidence of Danny's improvement. In money time, he made the right decisions for his team, created a shot for himself and scored the most important basket in the game. He proves that he is clutch."

The Finnish journalist Lauri Letinen tweeted: "Israel won justly. Markkanen was excellent, but Avdia was divine."
