Summary: Hapoel Hadera - Maccabi Tel Aviv 6:0 (Sport1)

After a long period of searching the market, it is possible that Maccabi Tel Aviv has finally put its hand on the brakes.

The Yellows are conducting advanced negotiations with the Dutch defender Derrick Lucassen (27), whom PSV Eindhoven is interested in selling and according to reports in the Netherlands "willing to be very flexible on the price".

In recent years, Lucassen has become something of a joke among PSV fans, following the ritual that repeats itself almost every summer: he starts training with the team, but is quickly loaned out to another team.

Lucassen is considered an "eternal loan" in the Netherlands and in recent years has moved between stations in Germany (Hertha Berlin), Belgium (Anderlecht) and Turkey (Kasimpasha and Fatih Karagomaruk).

This was not the plan for him when he was bought in the summer of 2017 from Alkmaar for over 5 million euros, destined to become a leading stopper at the club.

However, Lucassen suffered from many injuries, did not find a permanent place in the lineup and above all was unable to take advantage of his impressive physical qualities, which were the main reason why he was marked by the luxury club.

An unfulfilled promise.

In his first season with the team, he received intermittent opportunities from then-coach Philippe Coco, but his status gradually declined.

Just last summer it seemed that PSV would deviate from the norm and not loan him.

New coach Rod van Nistelrooy has been in trouble due to injuries to other players, and expressed satisfaction with the improvement in his abilities and the effort he is putting into training.

But in the end the wounded returned, and PSV decided to change direction.

Now it hopes to sell Lucassen permanently, and Maccabi Tel Aviv looks like the leading candidate.

Lucassen received offers from Greece and France, and less than a month ago it was reported in France that he was in the sights of Lille and Monaco.

But none of the offers were ripe for real negotiations, and now he may end up at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

"The man and the 5.5 million deal is chasing Eran Zahavi", they wrote last night in the Dutch media, "the match between PSV and Lucassen was not particularly happy for both parties. He never managed to live up to expectations."

Lucassen has a somewhat troubling history of injuries.

Last season in Turkey he missed 16 games due to an "unknown injury", and in the past he was absent for extended periods due to knee and ankle injuries.
