After the successful start to the European Basketball Championship, with a dramatic 87:89 over Finland at the end of a thriller, the Israeli national team is looking for its second victory in the tournament this evening (Saturday) when this time it faces the Dutch national team, which on paper is considered the weakest opponent at home.
If they overcome it, Guy Goodes' players will take a significant step towards securing a place in the round of 16.
After Goodes significantly reduced the rotation from the beginning of the second half against Finland, and considering the short time differences between games in the championship, Israel will need a contribution today from players who received fewer minutes yesterday, such as Yam Medar and Roman Sorkin, who actually recorded good performances during the preparation period.
The Netherlands opened the Eurobasket with a resounding 76:100 defeat at the hands of Serbia, and the player who should make it more difficult for Israel than anyone is Worthy de Jong, the 34-year-old guard who scored 28 points against the Serbs last night.
The Israeli national team is looking for a second victory in the European Championship.
